National home repair provider Rightio has pledged to represent more female engineers, in order to inspire more women to pursue a career in the trade sector.

The Birmingham-based business has said that it has taken time to reflect on what it could do to support more gender equality in the industry.

According to statistics published by Prowess, just two per cent of plumbers in the UK are women.

In order to bolster representation of women in the industry, Rightio will be making changes to the language and imagery within its marketing content.

Laura Page, Rightio marketing manager, explained: “As one of the UK 's leading providers in our industry, the time to take responsibility is now. We need to lead by example and make changes to the male-specific language and imagery used within our marketing content. ”

Rightio will be documenting it 's commitment to gender equality through its website and blog.
