Hospice care event to take place next month

A free event will be taking place at St Andrews Church Parish Centre in Barnt Green to talk about the role that hospice care can play in the lives of people that need 24/7 care, and for people that provide care.

The event will be taking place on Sunday 5 November from 3pm to 5pm, with refreshments being served before the event at 2:30pm.

The NHS and social care services are stretched, which can bring about various challenges for those who need to provide care for loved ones who want to stay at home.

Local resident Peter McNougher and Inspirational Author Award winner Hazel Carter are experienced care-givers, and will be talking through these challenges and answering any questions that attendees have surrounding hospice care.

Hazel Carter said: "Caring for a loved one is an honour and privilege. This is a unique opportunity to learn and be inspired by two people who have different experiences of caregiving and who choose to shine even after all the storms they have been through."

Tracey Lucas, head of the Pastoral Care Team at St Andrews Parish Centre, will be asking the questions, including those from the audience. Emotional support will be provided if needed.

After the event, Hazel Carter will be available to sign copies of “Life’s Good- it’s the disease that’s the problem.” 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the books is split between MND Association, Marie Curie and the Myton Hospices.
