Housing provider recognises contractor employees for going above and beyond
The heroic acts of two employees from contractor Novus Property Solutions have been honoured and recognised by social landlord Trent & Dove at a special presentation hosted at its offices in Trinity Square, Burton on Trent.
While driving around Burton in their works van, Nathan O 'Neil, assistant contractors manager and site manager, Jordan Harrison, were flagged down.
Nathan said: “A lady flagged us down to see if we could help a man who was laying unresponsive in a bush. We immediately went over to take a closer look at what was happening and recognised that the man was a Trent & Dove customer. ”
Despite Nathan and Jordan, who are both first-aid trained, trying to alert the man he remained unresponsive. So, Jordan rang for an ambulance and informed the man 's family members who had been unaware at home.
Nathan added: “Jordan was liaising with the ambulance service over the phone, whilst I assisted the gentleman. He was very unresponsive and kept drifting in and out of consciousness. We were really concerned and placed him in the recovery position until the ambulance arrived. ”
Jordan said: “Once the ambulance arrived, we stepped out of the way for the paramedics to take over. They checked his blood sugars, which were seriously low. The paramedics then confirmed that the man had suffered from a hypoglycaemic shock. ”
A few days later Nathan and Jordan paid the man a visit to see how he was recovering at home.
Kevin Donohoe, head of asset strategy, planning and delivery at Trent & Dove, said: “We are proud to recognise Nathan and Jordan for their heroic acts towards one of our customers.
“The fact that they stayed with the man until the ambulance came and ensured that he was okay is tremendous and goes to show just how caring and supportive they are.
“We have partnered with Novus for our external roofing and internal kitchens and bathrooms for the last three years and this incident has further cemented our close working relationship. We cannot thank them enough for what they have done and to show our appreciation we wanted to recognise their efforts publicly and reward them both with some Love2Shop vouchers. ”
