How to keep track of financial wellbeing?

With the start of a new year and people getting back into their old routines after a hopefully refreshing holiday, Virgin Money brand and community manager Amy Jacklin (pictured) shares the top tips of keeping track of your financial wellbeing.

Every penny counts, right? Especially when saving those extra pennies could add up to get you that Virgin Voyages cruise you have been chatting to your colleagues about or even that new phone you just can’t wait to strut around the office with.

However, we understand saving right now is easier said than done. Saving little and often works, so here are some tricks to make sure you aren’t paying full price when you don’t need to:

Savings account

Set up a savings account where any money saved from deals and discount codes can be transferred into. For example, if an item was £10 but a discount code enabled it to be bought for £7, the £3 saved would go into the savings.

Loyalty rewards

Check to see if brands have a free loyalty program you can join to collect rewards. Sometimes, if a brand has an app, you’ll receive a welcome freebie purely for downloading the app.

Cashback

The unsung hero of money saving. Think of it as an indirect discount, where you can receive a percentage of your order value back into your bank after making the purchase.

Automatic discounts

Search for ‘discount code browser extension’, and install a reputable, well reviewed one onto your desktop or mobile browser.

Price comparison sites

The first price you see may not actually be the cheapest. There are several websites that compare prices from thousands of online retailers to find the best possible deal.

Customer perks

Check with your current TV, broadband, mobile and other service providers to see what benefits you could have access to just for being a customer. Some providers offer rewards such as free coffees, meals, exclusive discounts on days out, beauty products and cinema tickets to loyal customers.

Virgin Money is also running a New Years Financial Wellbeing session on Teams. This session will share some valuable expert tips and tricks for understanding, managing, saving, and protecting your money.

The event is scheduled to take place on 15 January at 12 pm. Click here to sign up.
