The founder of HR consultancy Bitesize HR has partnered with fellow Chamber member Arden Academy to deliver a session on self-employment.

Lucy Clark and Arden Academy hosted the exclusive ‘Future Friday’ session which delivered raw, practical insights on self-employment.

The interactive session bypassed standard classroom theory, offering more than 60 students a transparent look at the realities, risks, and rewards of setting up a business - from navigating initial financial considerations to building a resilient brand.

The session provided the next generation with a realistic blueprint for entrepreneurial success.

Lucy Clark said: “The energy in the room was incredibly inspiring. We are living through a uniquely challenging economic and employment climate.

“Entry-level roles, graduate schemes, and apprenticeships are more competitive than ever before.

“It’s no longer enough to just teach young people how to write a CV; we need to empower them to create their own opportunities.”

The initiative highlights a growing necessity to support young people as they prepare to enter a radically transformed professional landscape.

The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated technologies means the working world these students inherit will look vastly different from previous generations.

The ‘Future Friday’ session emphasised that while AI will rewrite the rules of traditional employment, it also opens unprecedented doors for agile, tech-savvy young entrepreneurs who understand how to leverage these tools.
