Ruth Todd, chief commercial officer of HS2, is confirmed as a speaker at the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce 's (GBCC) Quarterly Business Report (QBR) launch event this month.

The QBR offers an up-to-date snapshot of the performance of the Greater Birmingham business community and it is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city region.

The QBR is sponsored by Birmingham City University, and this is the first QBR launch event to take place in-person at the venue since the start of 2020.

Now a well-established feature in the local business calendar, the QBR event attracts a senior level audience of around 60- 80 people for networking, discussion, and intelligence sharing.

Ruth Todd will be discussing how HS2 can lead to wider investment opportunities for the region, in line with the event 's theme of 'Investment in Greater Birmingham '

Ruth joined HS2 in July 2021 from the Covid-19 Vaccine Task force, where she led the programme to deliver coronavirus vaccines in the UK

She has had a varied career, including Commercial Director at the Submarine Delivery Agency, an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence. She previously worked for Babcock International where she managed the Land Equipment (military vehicles and other army equipment) support supply chain.

Prior to that she was programme director for Jaguar Land Rover improving their inbound supply chain. Much of her career has been in transformational management; leading teams through change to deliver practical operational improvements.

Beth Clewes, Insight and Intelligence Services manager for the GBCC, said: “I 'm really looking forward to Ruth joining the panel at our QBR event and to hear more about HS2 and the opportunities its presenting to the region.

“Investment in Greater Birmingham businesses is more important than ever as we look into economic recovery now that Covid restrictions have lifted, and it 's vital to hear from local experts around how the business community can stimulate and attract opportunities for growth.

“We 're also excited that this is the first in-person QBR event since before the pandemic, so it would be great to see members of the local business community there ”
