Warwickshire County Cricket Club has underlined a commitment to be 'Edgbaston for Everyone ' by appointing an Inclusion Advisory Board to oversee the club 's inclusivity work.

The 16-strong board includes current and former players, plus representatives of our local community, faith groups and the nine protected characteristics.

They will help shape their diversity promise and ensure the stadium continues to be welcoming for all.

It 's one of the first such boards introduced by a county cricket club in England and Wales.

Board chair Toyin Higgs (pictured), a diversity and inclusion consultant, said: “We are committed to ensuring that cricket in Warwickshire lives and breathes inclusivity.

“The launch of the Inclusion Advisory Board is a huge step on a journey to achieving positive outcomes in cricket for all.

“We welcome challenge, different perspectives and the opportunity to make meaningful change. I 'm really looking forward to working with all our members and being effective cricket ambassadors in our communities. ”

Chief executive Stuart Cain, said: “Everybody at Warwickshire is committed to making Edgbaston a safe, welcoming environment for all, whether as a player, aspiring Academy student, member of staff, volunteer or fan.

“We recognise we cannot and should not do this alone and need the insight, support and experience of people that live within our communities.

“The Inclusion Advisory Board members will be a critical friend to guide and advise the Club. ”

The club picked up a diversity award in the recent Business of Cricket Awards (BOCA) for the Edgbaston for Everyone plan.
