IT Consultancy firm advises GBCC on Office 365 SharePoint migration
Leap IT, based in Hockley Heath, have just finished a three-month consultancy project for the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to advise and plan a migration of nearly 1.7Tb of data across 1.8 million files into the cloud with Office 365.
Working alongside the existing IT Team at the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Leap IT were asked to assist with the decommissioning of the GBCC 's on-premise servers and move the organisation to Microsoft 's Office 365 cloud environment.
Using Microsoft Azure, Microsoft InTune, Sharepoint and OneDrive, desk based PC 's were replaced with cloud enabled laptops all remotely managed with Microsoft InTune. Departmental SharePoint sites were created to store data from the on-premise file servers and an internal WiKi site was developed for GBCC employees to collaborate.
Rob Jukes (pictured), a senior IT Consultant at Leap IT said: “Microsoft 's vision of a modern workplace with Office 365 is something Leap IT are completely on-board with and this is starting to be adopted more and more by businesses. It can be a minefield to plan however and the experience we have of these kinds of projects really helps our clients out. ”
Anthony Duncan, head of IT at the GBCC, said: “We reached out to Leap IT initially for advice on best practice with regard to a planned migration of our on-premise file system to Microsoft Office 365 cloud (Sharepoint). A Leap IT engineer came to site to conduct an initial assessment of our requirements and following this we have put a plan into action for the migration.
“We are also currently rolling out new devices to staff using Microsoft Endpoint Manager and used Leap IT to conduct a review/sense-check of the work conducted so far. Leap IT have proved to be very knowledgeable and supportive and I 'm happy to recommend their services. ”
