Japanese independent restaurant Yakinori is inviting Chamber members and guests to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival with discounted rates.

The festival plays a large part in the Japanese calendar, with a big focus being on meditation, renewal and the nature of ‘Simply Being’.

In Japan, the flowering cherry tree, or ‘Sakura’, is a very important flowering plant. The word Sakura can mean either the tree or its flowers, with the cherry blossom being considered the national flower of Japan.

The beauty of the cherry blossom is a symbol with rich meaning in Japanese culture.

Chamber members can get 20 per cent off with the code ‘Blossom20’, when dining at the two Yakinori restaurants at Selly Oak and Solihull.

This Hanami Festival is celebrated globally within Japanese culture throughout literature, art and poetry.

It is a time where people gather with their friends and family to admire the true beauty of the Cherry Blossom trees and reflect on their blessings.

‘Hanami is the many centuries-old practice of holding feasts or parties under blooming Sakura in the island of Honshu, the bloom often coincides with important parts of the Japanese calendar. Despite originating in Japan, these trees are now seen globally at various different locations, filling different spaces with beautiful white and pink petals.

The restaurant chain will also be launching a Sakura selfie competition, where a lucky winner who takes a selfie with a blossom tree will receive two tickets to the Yakinori Sushi School.

Yakinori is also hosting a weekday event where you will get to enjoy seven beautiful wines alongside an authentic Four Course Japanese meal.

The Wine Events Company are collaborating with Yakinori on Wednesday, 17 April at 7pm, to run this food and wine event hosted by the Wine Geek and Sommelier Tony Elvin. This evening will include a sparkling drink on arrival, along with seven wines carefully chosen to compliment your four courses.

You can book onto the event HERE. If you have any questions or dietary requirements, then please reach out directly to tara@yakinori.co.uk.
