Jazz night celebrates music of legendary composer

Local jazz trumpeter and guitarist Nick Dewhurst and his trio will present an evening of music celebrating the great composer, George Gershwin at The Bub at St Mary’s in Lichfield.

Expect tunes such as Summertime, Lady Be Good, Fascinating Rhythm, I Got Rhythm and more.

Lichfield-born Nick Dewhurst (pictured) is a talented multi-instrumentalist and is well-known across the Midlands jazz scene.

He has released several CDs and leads the Nick Dewhurst Band and Nick Dewhurst Quartet.
Nick said: “We’ve enjoyed some great ‘Swingin’ Standards’ gigs at the Hub St Mary’s but this time we’re going to focus on a specific composer who boasts a very famous and wide repertoire – none other than George Gershwin.

“It’s fair to say most jazz fans will know some of Gershwin’s pieces and we’re going to serve them up in a Jazz Trio fashion, with myself on Trumpet, alongside the brilliant Jim Wynn on Piano, and swingin’ Tom Moore on Double Bass.”
