Jobseekers want to work for a company that has a strong and commercially focused team, according to a new survey.

The poll, conducted by accountancy and finance recruiter Sheridan Maine – part of the Pertemps Network Group - serves as a significant benchmarking and comparison tool, shedding light on the benefits, trends, needs and preferences prevalent among job seekers in today’s dynamic job market.

Encompassing responses from a diverse pool of candidates, the survey aimed to uncover the sentiments and aspirations of applicants and provide employers with the critical information they need to attract top talent.

The latest survey indicates a shifting trend among UK jobseekers, with 41.3 per cent now expressing a distinct aspiration to work for companies characterised by a strong and commercially focused leadership team.

This newfound emphasis on visionary and commercially oriented leadership reflects a broader recognition of the pivotal role that leadership plays in shaping an organisation’s direction.

This shift underscores the dynamic nature of the job market and how jobseekers are seeking out opportunities that align with their career goals and values.

While 26.9 per cent of respondents conveyed a strong inclination towards organisations that adopt a profit-driven ethos and prioritise generous financial incentives for their employees, these findings underscore the continued importance of financial support, especially amidst the ongoing challenges posed by the current cost of living crisis.

Lee Shepherd (pictured), sales and marketing director at Sheridan Maine, said: “Our commitment to understanding the ever-changing dynamics of the staffing and recruitment landscape has led us to conduct this comprehensive job seeker survey.

“We believe that the results will not only benefit employers and recruiters, but also help jobseekers make informed career decisions."
