Employability UK are hosting an event this month to help young people kick-start their careers.

With unemployment rife and many young people facing the challenges of the job hunt, the government 's fully-funded Kickstart scheme has enabled businesses to provide young people with job opportunities and the chance to upskill.

Attendees of EmployabilityUK 's virtual Kickstart event will hear about how to apply for placements, what EUK can do to support them and how the charity are leading the way by employing young people on this scheme.

The event will take place on Friday 26 March from 12pm and is free of charge.

It will be hosted by the UK 's chief youth officer and entrepreneur, Jack Parsons, and will also welcome a representative from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

CEO Di Vernon (pictured) explained: “Our mission is to facilitate employer engagement to enhance the aspirations, opportunities and career prospects of enthusiastic and committed young people. Kickstart provides opportunities for businesses to employ many of the individuals we work with, eager to make a positive contribution to your workforce ”.

Employability UK offer a gateway intermediary into Kickstart and aim to equip young people with the 'employability skills ' needed for work placements, as well as help with the applications process to the DWP.

Di continued: “Employers want to help and provide work experience opportunities but are often put off by financial restrictions and lack of exemplary resources.

“This is where EUK can help - we take care of the administration of the funding and provide the wraparound employability skills training, ensuring that in 6 months employees conclude their placement with the key skills needed to achieve a clearly-defined pathway of progression ”.
