Kids’ Village thanks supporters at St George’s Park event
More than 100 guests gathered at St George’s Park in Burton-on-Trent this week as the charity brought together supporters of its capital build appeal to thank them for their incredible support and share the latest progress on construction and plans to welcome the first families next year.
Kids’ Village is creating the UK’s first holiday village designed exclusively for critically ill children and their families, offering a week long gifted holiday to families to enjoy a break together.
It was a fitting setting for the event with St George’s Park just a few miles away from the first Kids’ Village site in Wychnor, which will be named Charlotte’s Kids Village in memory of a little girl called Charlotte who sadly died from a brain tumour aged 11 and whose family made a significant donation to the capital appeal.
Guests at the event included major donors, community supporters, corporate partners and friends and family of the charity’s Founders who have supported the charity for a number of years.
Hosted by Kids’ Village trustee Ed James, guests heard from Chairman Doug Wright MBE DL and Founder Sam Fletcher-Goodwin, who not only thanked supporters for their support since the capital appeal was launched in 2024, but also shared the latest progress on site, including exclusive images of the first lodge currently under construction and more about what the experience will be for families when Charlotte’s Kids Village opens next year.
Doug Wright MBE DL, chairman of Kids’ Village, said: “Since launching our capital appeal in 2024, many people have played their part in helping turn this vision into reality.
“From major donors and corporate partners to community fundraisers and supporters who have followed our journey from the very beginning, every act of kindness, advocacy and generosity has brought us closer to opening our doors.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us and look forward to welcoming the first families to Charlotte’s Kids Village next year."
