Krubally wins EFL seasonal award
Burton Alion FC’s Sulyman Krubally (pictured) was presented with the League One Apprentice of the Season at the EFL Awards held in London last night.
The award honours young players who excel both on and off the pitch, combining outstanding football performance with academic success.
The 17-year-old has been with the Brewers since Under-13 level and signed his first professional contract at the Pirelli Stadium in October.
Earlier this season, Krubally became Albion’s youngest ever player to feature in a competitive EFL fixture, coming off the bench in the Carabao Cup First Round tie away to Tranmere Rovers – aged 16 years and 355 days old.
He then made his Sky Bet League One debut just days later, away at Stockport County. Since then, he has appeared 27 times across three competitions this term. This included an excellent performance against Premier League side West Ham United in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Head of player development Jack O'Brien said: "Everyone at Burton Albion is delighted to see Sulyman pick up the Apprentice of the Season award.
“It’s a testament to his hard work this year, which has seen him step up from the academy to the First Team in a mature and confident manner.
“We’re very proud of him and can’t wait to see how he continues his development next season."
