Last chance to enter charity sports challenge with free funding up for grabs
Birmingham-based charity Cash For Kids is calling on all Chamber members who work with grass roots children’s sports teams and clubs to enter its Sporting Challenge, where they could win prizes for fundraising on their own behalf.
The Challenge is aimed at children’s sports groups, registered charities, and schools that deliver sport or physical activity across the Midlands, encouraging them to raise funds for their club, and stand a chance of winning a share of a prize pot worth £10,000.
The unique fundraising competition is designed to ensure disadvantaged young people have access to sport and all the many benefits and fun it can offer.
But in some areas of the Midlands, where one in three children are living in poverty, they can’t join in because they might not be able to afford kit or the fees, or the team needs specialist equipment to help make it accessible to all.
Through Sports Challenge, the teams that enter are encouraged to hold a fundraising drive in aid of their group (they get to keep 100 per centof all funds donated!), and those that raise the most stand a chance of winning a cash prize.
For the top fundraising team, they could win as much as £5,000 if they raise £5,000 or more.
Previous examples of what funding raised during Sports Challenge has been used for include:
• Subsidising the cost of subscriptions/membership fees, kit, or equipment for children from low-income backgrounds
• Buying specialist kit or improving facilities/making building adaptations for children with a disability/additional needs
• Help assist with running costs of the groups to enable them to be self-sustainable in the future
Entries are open now until midday on Monday 9th September.
Groups will have from 14 September to 14 October to raise as much as they can. Cash for Kids will be by their side throughout offering expert fundraising advice and a full set of materials to help them succeed.
