mfg solicitors recently hosted a welcome drinks and networking event to mark the appointments of commercial property partner, Brian Hession, and corporate specialist and partner, Matt Smith.

The event was held at Primitivo in Barwick Street with over 120 guests from across the city’s property and corporate industries enjoying early evening drinks and canapes.

Brian Hession will lead the commercial property team at mfg’s Birmingham office based in the city’s Colmore Business District.

He will work with department head Ben Rothery, focussing on investment, financing and letting transactions.

Ben Rothery, partner and head of the Commercial Property department at mfg Solicitors said: “Brian has an immense reputation not just here in the West Midlands, but across the whole of the country.

“He brings a huge amount of experience and expertise to the firm and is already making a difference at our Birmingham office where he is leading and developing our commercial property presence in the city.

“As a firm we are working in partnership with more Birmingham businesses than ever before, and Brian will help develop those existing relationships and drive our growth with new clients.”

Brian Hession added: “It’s a fantastic time to join mfg Solicitors and have the opportunity to help grow the team in this dynamic phase of the firm’s development.

“The firm really feels like it is going places and has a genuinely collaborative culture, with everyone pulling in the same direction. The recent arrival of a number of talented solicitors and partners is a real endorsement of the firm’s strategy, and I look forward to working closely with my new colleagues.

Matt Smith will provide a range of expert advice to businesses, owner-managers and investors around corporate transactions, acquisitions, disposals, restructures, joint ventures and corporate advisory matters. He will work alongside partner and head of department Clare Lang.

Clare Lang, partner at mfg Solicitors said: “Matt has successfully represented a variety of national and international businesses over the last 15 years.

“He has exceptional credentials, so we’re delighted he has joined us to further boost not just the Corporate team, but the firm as a whole. He will be a tremendous asset for us and our clients in the months and years ahead.”

Matt Smith added: “I’ve joined mfg Solicitors as it’s an ambitious, growing firm with a clear vision for the future.

“Over several years you can’t fail to notice the strong reputation the firm has built, coupled with its roster of excellent clients and its commitment to supporting colleagues.

“That made it the perfect place to take the next step in my career. I’m excited to contribute to the firm’s continued growth and to help drive forward the opportunities ahead.”

Matt is the latest addition to the firm’s growing Corporate team, with fellow partner Philip Chapman also recently joining the firm in the heart of the city’s Colmore Business District.
