Leadership programme encourages young people to shape city 's future
At a time when the city of Birmingham is looking to young people to help shape its future, the 'Birmingham150 ' Legacy Programme is aiming to support the city in creating a lasting legacy.
'Birmingham150 ' challenges young people to think through what they want their generation 's legacy to be - this year focusing in particular on the question “how do we act together to transform Birmingham into a cleaner, greener place for all? ”
Marie Mohan (pictured), UK managing director, Common Purpose, said: “We need a new generation of young leaders to come through who have the commitment and ability to bridge divides. We all need to hear and support our young people with their big ideas and long-term thinking. ”
Ignited by passion, commitment, and a desire to change their cities for the better, the young people investigate big issues, hold difficult conversations - on the things that can pull us apart.
They collaborate to develop ideas for a better future, all the while being supported by local senior leaders from across the city.
The programme runs from 18-20 April 2023. It is FREE and open to all 18-25-year-olds living, working and/or studying in Birmingham. They can apply here.
The programme will be delivered by Common Purpose and is made possible through a partnership with the city 's leading public and private sector organisations.
Programme partners include:
- Aston University
- Birmingham City Council
- RSM
- Shakespeare Martineau
- Wesleyan Assurance Society
Mark Taylor, managing partner, RSM UK: “RSM are delighted to extend our involvement with the Legacy Programme to Birmingham. This is a terrific initiative to engage and enthuse future leaders in the key challenges of our time and we are proud to support it. ”
Birmingham150 is a part of Legacy, a global campaign by international leadership development organization, Common Purpose, which invests in young people across the world so they can become a connected generation of leaders with a clear vision for what their futures will be.
