HCR Law has appointed Bukola Obadun-Craigs (pictured) as a Partner and Head of Housing Management.

She will support clients across the social and affordable housing sector, adjacent communities and later living matters.

The latest appointment follows Melissa Starkings in March who has acted for housing associations, local authorities and developers on new residential development sites and Rachael Watts, Senior Associate who also specialises in social housing development.

Bukola will be based between the Birmingham and London offices.

She specialises in residential property litigation in the social and affordable housing sector, acting for and advising registered providers of social housing including large housing associations and smaller not-for-profit providers.

Her expertise enables her to act for property developers, large housebuilders, private estates and individual property owners. She also acts as a board member on a Birmingham-based housing trust.

Litigation in the social and affordable housing sector is increasing due to heightened regulatory scrutiny and tenant safety obligations to the growing volume of housing management and leasehold disputes.

Bukola said: “I’ve specialised in housing litigation within the social housing sector because I feel I can contribute to making a positive social impact in the sector. My work often sits at the intersection between law, public policy and social impact.”

Joint Head of Healthcare at HCR Law, Louise Crook, said: “Our team is growing to meet a significant increase in work in this sector.

“We’re also continuing to build our offer across communities and later living, alongside our core work supporting housing providers and those providing housing with care.

“Welcoming Bukola on board, with her experience in this sector, will really benefit our clients.”
