Lichfield District Council is recruiting a second group of apprentices this year as part of its continued drive to attract new talent into local government.

The council is looking for four business analysts (Level 4) to participate on an 18-month apprenticeship and is holding a dedicated recruitment day on Monday 19 September.

The apprentice business analysts will assess how the needs of the district can be met through business change and digital solutions while supporting the council 's 'Being A Better Council ' programme which is transforming the way it operates to ensure services are delivered in the most cost-effective and efficient way.

For the first six months the apprentices will be working in the council 's customer service team, before moving on to work in different departments.

To be considered for the full-time roles with a competitive salary, applicants must be educated to GCSE Level (5 at grades A* to C/9-4 or equivalent including maths and English) and A Level (3 at Grade C/equivalent or above).

Maddison Hart, who joined the council as a Communications and Digital Marketing Apprentice in April, recommended the scheme;

“I am really enjoying working as an apprentice at Lichfield District Council and have already learnt a lot. It is a great opportunity to experience a professional working environment, meet new people and learn from colleagues. ”

“Working as an apprentice is both challenging and rewarding and I would encourage anyone to apply. ”

Simon Fletcher, Chief Executive of Lichfield District Council, said: “We are thrilled to offer more apprenticeship opportunities. Eight joined us in April and they have made a huge impact, bringing energy and new skills to our services. ”

“The Business Analyst apprentices will help us deliver our services more effectively and efficiently so that we can become more resident and customer-focused ”

“Attracting younger people or those seeking different career paths with the council is a key priority for me and I look forward to welcoming applicants to our recruitment day later this month. ”

The council is inviting applications now with the closing date being Tuesday 13 September.

Successful applicants will need to be available to attend the recruitment day at District Council House in Frog Lane on Monday 19 September.
