Lichfield’s Hub Gallery is launching 2026 in colourful style - with an exhibition of the artwork of Margaret Parker (1925-2012).

Margaret was an exceptionally talented artist who originally trained in Sutton Coldfield although she was to become best known for her later work produced in the areas of Hull and the East Ridings of Yorkshire.

She enjoyed significant recognition in her lifetime having exhibited with the Royal Academy and many of her works are held in public collections including the Beverley Art Gallery and University of York. While Margaret mainly focused on land and townscapes she also produced some exceptional abstract works.

Hub Gallery curator Douglas Armour said: “We are indebted to Margaret's daughter Judith, a Hub volunteer, for the opportunity to not only display this fantastic body of work from a renowned artist, but to offer them for sale with proceeds going to support the charitable purpose of The Hub at St Mary's.

“It is a remarkably generous gesture and myself and the other Trustees at The Hub are immensely grateful. We hope art lovers in Lichfield will enjoy this opportunity to appreciate Margaret's work and perhaps take the opportunity to own an original piece.’

The free exhibition runs until 31 January.
