Lichfield in the spotlight at Ambassador event
Lichfield 's first Michelin-starred restaurant, the Cathedral 's place at the heart of the community and a new city centre cinema and leisure project are all on the agenda at a special event next month.
'Staffordshire Ambassador Event, A Place to Prosper ' is being held on Tuesday 11 July at Lichfield Cathedral, compered by Henrietta Brealey, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
The two and a quarter hour event features an array of guest speakers, including Ms Brealey, Lichfield Cathedral executive director Simon Warburton, Chef Patron of Upstairs restaurant Tom Shepherd, plus representatives from Evolve Estates and Lichfield District Council.
Ms Brealey will outline the Chambers of Commerce activities in Staffordshire plus future initiatives and plans for Lichfield-based projects while Simon Warburton will discuss the role of the cathedral within the local community, its heritage and conservation plans.
Tom Shepherd of Upstairs will discuss his restaurant 's move to Lichfield and future plans while officials from Evolve Estates and Lichfield District Council will provide updates on the Lichfield City Centre Master Plan and the development of the Birmingham Road site.
Henrietta Brealey will host a panel discussion following the speakers ' contributions.
She said: “There 's a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for Lichfield. I am delighted to be chairing this event that will bring together leaders from across the sectors to share their perspectives and connect local businesses, both to the latest insights and each other as advocates for doing business in Staffordshire.
“At the Chamber, we work closely with hundreds of businesses across South & East Staffordshire through our Lichfield & Tamworth, Burton-on-Trent and Cannock Chase Chamber of Commerce divisions. We are looking forward to supporting Staffordshire Ambassadors in their work to champion the county and showcase its strengths as a place to live, visit, work and study. ”
The Staffordshire Ambassador Network brings together businesses, education, the public sector, the third sector and other organisations which help put the county on the map.
The event runs from 9am to 11.15am and afterwards guided outdoor tours of Lichfield Cathedral grounds are available.
