Life of a Teletubby revealed in new show at Lichfield venue
A Lichfield arts venue is set to host a show portraying life on the set of Teletubbies as you may not have imagined.
Selling out at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023, Confessions of a Teletubby is a revealing peek behind the scenes of a global TV phenomenon.
Nikky Smedley (pictured) was the original LaaLaa for six years.
Hear how she dressed as a table to get the job, what it was really like inside those Tubby suits, how the NooNoo worked and why children loved the show so much.
The show at The Hub at St Mary’s on Wednesday 24 September (7.30pm) will provide revelations, secrets and oodles of behind the scenes gossip plus book signing and photo opportunities afterwards.
The Hub creative director Anthony Evans said: “Eh-Oh! Becoming Laa Laa transformed Nikky’s fortunes and her funny, frank and charming memories are a delight for anyone who grew up with the Teletubbies – or whose children were captivated by them. Bring on the tubby custard!”
Tickets for the show, at £15, are available online or in person from the box office.
