Lifesaving charity receives Community Contributor award
Lifesaving charity Arrive Alive has been named as the Community Contributor of the year at this year’s Midlands Service Excellence Awards.
Arrive Alive was founded by Birmingham based Mother Debbie Roscoe following her youngest daughter's severe illness.
Debbie initially set out to donate one car to her local Community First Responder group as a way of giving something back.
Six years later Arrive Alive has funded eleven voluntary operated 999 vehicles within different communities, each of the eleven Arrive Alive vehicles is dispatched to a medical emergency within their local community following a call to West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Henrik Court, organiser of the annual Midlands Service Excellence Awards said: "It was great that the independent judging panel chose Arrive Alive to win the 'Charity or Community Contributor Award' this year.
“The awards are now in their fifth year and this category is always hotly contested.
“The judging panel was impressed that the founder, had created the charity and achieved so much without receiving any external funding and in response to the distressing situation she experienced with her younger daughter Ellie, and not wanting other people to have the same experience."
Arrive Alive is a small charity with its main goal of helping to save lives within communities.
The twelfth Arrive Alive vehicle is due to become operational in the coming weeks with more vehicles urgently needed. Arrive Alive is solely reliant on donations to enable more resources to become available.
Communities within Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Worcestershire, North Warwickshire, Alcester and the Black Country have benefited from the support of Arrive Alive.
Some of those communities need additional vehicles to keep up with demand in addition to new communities which are still in need of Arrive Alive’s support.
Founder of Arrive Alive Debbie Roscoe said: “To receive the Midlands Service in Excellence Charity of the Year award has come as a great surprise.
“The award has been a great boost to the morale of the team that work relentlessly to make a difference. It was also wonderful to witness one of our charity partners Johnsons Coaches being presented with the Family Business of the Year award.
“There was also a second surprise during the event of being the chosen charity for the proceeds of the raffle that was conducted at the event.
