The Listening Centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary by working with West Midlands Ambulance Service to shine a spotlight on mental health in the workplace.

The award-winning business which is based in Lichfield, provides a suite of welfare services to companies across the region. As part of its anniversary celebrations, The Listening Centre has created a video with ambulance staff to show how vital it is to focus on health and wellbeing at work.

The Listening Centre, which recently won Lichfield Small Business of the Year at the Sutton, Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards, has counsellors across the Midlands. They have also created a video with the staff at University of Keele.

Sharon McCormick (Pictured), founder of The Listening Centre, said: “Over the last two decades we have worked with some incredible organisations that want the best support in place for their employees. We know that West Midlands Ambulance values the services we provide. We are a person-centred business and genuinely care about every individual we support - we want to work with progressive companies that really value their workforce. ”

“When I started the business my aim was to help people that were experiencing distress at work. We know that the effects of distressed employees in the workplace are highly damaging and far-reaching, from poor productivity and low morale to sickness, absence and high turnover.

“Understandably, people find it hard to talk about mental health issues, but the impact that the pandemic has had is shifting society 's awareness and openness to focus on these problems. Now more people recognise the value and benefit in exploring issues they may have with a qualified professional, which is well evidenced in the feedback we receive from employees who access our services. ”
