Local beauty entrepreneur visits College

South & City College Birmingham invited local entrepreneur Deborah Mitchell to its campuses in Hall Green and Longbridge to speak to beauty students last week.

Deborah gave an uplifting talk to South & City beauty students about her experiences of studying beauty at college to founding a successful beauty brand in 1995, now reported to be worth £30million pounds; all from her kitchen table.

Facialist to the stars Deborah Mitchell, has been working with Queen Camilla for over a decade. Deborah told the Daily Mail of Camilla's beauty routine which includes products from her own Heaven skincare range.

Guest speakers are a key tool among many that South & City use to enhance knowledge about students ' chosen industry sector and to inspire them about possible futures and what it takes to reach them.

It broadens students ' horizons to see the world outside of their classroom and local community. Talks can reduce the number of students feeling that their background will hold them back.

Deborah said: “All of the students were very welcoming, engaged and filled the room with positivity. I see great careers ahead for them all. ”

Emma Satchwell, a Level 3 Beauty Therapy student added, “This talk and product demonstration really cemented everything I have learnt over the past year and Deborah 's outlook on life has inspired and reassured me that my future plans are on track. ”

Head of School for Beauty Therapy, Sukaina Haji commented, “It was a pleasure to hear the positive comments from Deborah about our students, I am really proud of them all.

“Knowing where Deborah started from and how successful she has become has reinforced a self-belief in them that anything is possible with the right mind-set and positive attitude. Truly inspirational and many thanks to Deborah for her time. ”

Deborah closed the session with an invitation for students to contact her for free samples and to visit her headquarters in Telford.
