Local food banks in the Burton area have been urged to help ease the cost of living crisis by applying for the Emergency Food Aid Fund.

East Staffordshire Borough Council is encouraging local free food providers to apply for the Fund, which provides organisations, whose food supply may be low, with a one off payment of £3,000.

Eligible applicants must be based in East Staffordshire, and be a non-profit, community or charitable organisation which provides food for the community. They will already work giving funds to those who need it and be able to describe how the funding will be used.

Cllr Bernard Peters (pictured), Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing Standards, said: “The Council is committed to building upon its relationship with the local voluntary sector and will continue to provide support, such as the Emergency Food Aid Fund, to ensure these vital organisations have enough resources to continue operating in the borough. ”

This fund will be open until the funding has been spent, or until 20 March 2023, whichever comes first.

Further information, including an application form, can be found on the Council 's website.
