Logistics firm appoints new sales director

Logistics firm Simpex Express has appointed Dave Brown as their new sales director.

Dave (pictured) joined Simpex in 2014 as business development manager and has overseen significant growth in the nearly 10 years that has followed.

His wide-ranging logistics and sales experience has been critical to the Leeds office's success.

Having started in the industry in 1978 at his grandfather's freight forwarding company, Dave went on to work for several deep-sea liner agencies in the early 80's.

A move to London then furthered his experience working on large cross trade projects with a later move back to his beloved Yorkshire to continue in the areas of deep sea, European transport and general freight forwarding.

Dave said “Throughout my long career in logistics the biggest change I have seen is the IT revolution.

“I started my career communicating on landlines and Telex machines we now have mobile phones and email. A big shift.

“Brexit was also a standout moment for me and a huge learning curve for all involved. Not only were we being customs trained as a team, but we also had to help prepare our customers and their consignees for the changing rules.

“I think my experience across all modes and destinations really helped with the transition here”.

The recent acquisition of PJL Freight Solutions has further expanded their services into global air freight and sea freight - including FCL, LCL, Project Cargo, export packing, cross trade, and customs clearance - and the firm is more confident than ever in assisting any client, with any enquiry, to any destination.

Dave continued: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed sales director and I will be dedicated to expanding our current client base through our road, air & sea operations.
