Logistics provider thanked for Ukraine charity mission
Simpex Express has received a letter of thanks for their involvement in a charity mission at the border of Ukraine.
The company was able to transport pet supplies, suitcases and toys to the refugee centre to help the thousands of displaced people fleeing the Country.
Their client had put together donated items of pet supplies including dog & cat beds, blankets, carriers, litter trays, towels, food and toys, as well as luggage and backpacks, all to arrive at a refugee centre in Poland which is helping thousands of displaced people fleeing the country.
A total of 8 pallets, totalling to 1700kgs needed to be moved. Considerations had to include customs controls with animal-based food products involved.
After all goods were received at the border safely within the 5 days required, an amazing email of thanks was received from the customer to let Simpex know the difference the aid had made to the people who received it.
The letter read: “I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, everyone played such a critical role in this, from the lovely driver (Sebastian) from Simpex who picked up the items from the container; to the amazing people who palletised and shrink-wrapped everything before loading the lorry.
“The centre now has enough pet supplies to last them until the year end with hundreds of suitcases and rucksacks. We found that more people were coming through with disabilities and illnesses. We met a lovely lady with cancer who had a big smile when we gave her a suitcase. Another chap with a heart condition who couldn 't be happier with his new large rucksack.
“We met a lovely brother and sister who had arrived at the refugee centre having spent 36 hours travelling across Ukraine. They had their disabled mother with them who also had dementia and a severely disabled father. They also had a dog and cat as well as all their belongings in plastic bags. We gave them five suitcases and rucksacks with a case full of dog and cat supplies.
“I just wanted to share this story with you, so that you can see the huge difference you have made to these amazing people. Thank you - we couldn 't have done it without you and through your support we have jointly changed the lives of hundreds if not thousands of refugees. ”
Speaking about the letter, managing director Simon Beechener said: “Once we found out this was an aid mission, we felt compelled to help and offered to share the transport costs on this amazing project. To know that Simpex could make a difference, getting on board was the only decision and it turned out to be a truly humbling experience ”
