The Three Local Charities lottery will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with over £7.7 million donated to St Mary's Hospice, Acorns Children's Hospice, and Focus Birmingham.

The lottery, which celebrates its anniversary on 31 October has been helping the three charities since 1997. Currently, 10,000 people play the £1 weekly lottery with the winner getting a prize of £1000.

Speaking about the donation and the funds raised, lottery manager Lorraine Halling (pictured) said: "I have fantastic news! Not only are we celebrating 25 years of fundraising, at the same time I am proud to announce we have donated over £7.7 million to charity."

"This is all down to the generous, caring people in our local communities who play our £1 weekly Lottery, without whom this would not be possible. Our players have faced difficult and challenging times and continue to do so on a daily basis, yet despite the ups and downs, the one constant is the continued support they have for our charities."

"I would like to convey a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of our players, you should be proud to know that this massive achievement is down to you!

“Each Friday when the results are in, I have the great job of calling one lucky player to tell them they have won the 1st prize of £1,000. It's so nice to give a little back to our players."
