Low-emissions vehicle puts transport firm on road to greener future
Birmingham-based DMN Logistics, which transports commercial vehicles around the country, has invested in a new state-of-the-art transporter vehicle to reduce its own emissions and help it deliver more electric vehicles (EVs) to its nationwide network of customers.
The Digbeth-based firm, whose customers include national telecoms and infrastructure providers has used an asset finance package from Lloyds Bank to purchase a new transportation vehicle that will be compliant with the new Clean Air Zone in Birmingham city centre. It has the capacity to carry the same load as the firm 's three previous vehicles combined and will emit half the amount of carbon.
It will also enable the business, which employs 95 people, to deliver more EVs to its customers as they look to improve their own sustainability credentials.
DMN Logistics expects to deliver as many as 12,500 EVs in total in 2022 and has plans to increase its capacity to deliver electric and low-emissions vehicles further over the coming twelve months.
Nick Chadaway, managing director at DMN Logistics, said: “Sustainability is high on the agenda for all our customers so it is important to ensure that we can keep up with that demand. Our new vehicle will help us to do just that, whilst also reducing our own environmental impact in the process. ”
Last year DMN Logistics benefitted from a £550,000 Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan (CBIL) from Lloyds Bank as work was put on hold during the height of the pandemic. Having since returned to its previously strong levels of business, the firm also launched a new vehicle upgrade service earlier this year to provide an additional stream of income.
Nick added: “The Lloyds Bank team has been a huge support to us since the beginning of the pandemic, giving us the support we needed when our business came to a temporary halt last year and now, helping us as we start to look towards growth and a greener future. They 've been incredibly easy to deal with and understand our business and we will continue to work with them as we move into the new year. ”
Jason Nash, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “DMN Logistics really does help to keep the country moving and it 's fantastic to see the business commit to becoming more sustainable. This latest investment will have a big knock-on effect too by helping its customers become greener and putting a further 12,500 EVs on the road.
“Despite the difficulties we continue to face, sustainability must be top of the agenda as we move into 2022 and we will be supporting businesses across the West Midlands as we all look to transition towards a green economy. ”
