Supply chain opportunities for one of the UK 's most ambitious road projects will be discussed at a forthcoming Chamber event.

A webinar about opportunities for the Lower Thames Crossing is taking place on Wednesday 20 April (10am to 11.15am).

The Lower Thames Crossing is a proposed new road connecting Essex and Kent via a new tunnel under the River Thames.

It will connect the Channel ports with key logistics and distribution centres across the country and relieve congestion at the Dartford Crossing, one of the most important areas of the UK's Strategic Road Network (SRN).

It is part of the biggest investment in the country 's road network for a generation and an essential component in the UK 's future transport infrastructure.

The webinar will feature Shaun Pidcock (pictured), programme director at the Lower Thames Crossing, who will talk about the project and highlight the supply chain opportunities associated with it.

Mr Pidcock said: “The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is the most ambitious road project in a generation, and we will need a huge range of people and suppliers to help us deliver it.

“We 've also set an ambitious target for £1 in every £3 of the project 's main works construction budget to go to SMEs either directly or through our supply chain.

“We 're looking forward to talking with businesses from across Greater Birmingham about the exciting opportunities associated with the LTC on Wednesday 20 April. ”
