Birmingham Royal Ballet held the Maiden of Venice fundraising gala at the Grand Hotel Birmingham.

The corporate community and ballet enthusiasts alike gathered for an evening of Venetian glamour, featuring a series of live performances by Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers just a stone’s throw from their tables, accompanied by enchanting music from the company’s resident orchestra, the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

The event was a tremendous success, raising over £47,000 through the generosity of our guests.

The vital funds will support a bold new ballet - The Maiden of Venice - as it tours stages across the UK next spring.

This bold new work will reimagine La Bayadere - a rarely performed ballet in the UK. The ballet will premiere in February 2027 and will cost in excess of £2m to stage - and will be created right in the heart of Birmingham.

Guests enjoyed a three-course fine dining experience, alongside exclusive ballet and musical performance excerpts by dancers of Birmingham Royal Ballet and musicians of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

Highlights included a first look at choreography from The Maiden of Venice – a pas de deux performed by the two principal characters. The evening also featured a raffle and a live auction led by Tom Best.
