Manufacturing boss raises £40,000 for Parkinson 's charity
Henry Deakin, the managing director of premium cufflinks and accessories producer Deakin and Francis had raised more than £40,000 for a charity cycle ride.
The cycle ride is scheduled to be held on May 2023, from John O'Groats to Lands End (JOGLE) with an aim to raise further funds for Parkinson's UK.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects the nervous system, causing a range of symptoms, including tremors, rigidity, and difficulties with balance and coordination.
There are over 145,000 people living with Parkinson's in the UK alone, and Deakin and Francis is committed to supporting the vital work of Parkinson's UK in providing information, support, and research to improve the lives of those affected by the condition.
The JOGLE cycle ride will see nine intrepid cyclists embark on an epic 1000-mile journey from the northernmost point of Scotland to the southwestern tip of England. The team includes Henry Deakin, Tom Graham, James Fenwick, Scott Richardson Brown, Mark Whittaker, Mark Skipp, Tom Osbourne, Boudewijn, and Charlie Ferrier, who are all passionate about raising awareness and funds for Parkinson's UK.
Henry Deakin (pictured), director of Deakin and Francis, said: "We are delighted to be taking on this incredible challenge to support Parkinson's UK. Parkinson's is a cause that is close to our hearts, and we are determined to make a difference through our fundraising efforts. We are incredibly grateful for any support that people can give us as we prepare for this epic journey."
The goal is to raise £100,000 for the charity. The team has set up a Just Giving page where people can donate and support their efforts. The money raised will go towards Parkinson's UK's vital work in providing support, information, and research to improve the lives of those affected by the condition.
