A medical travel provider aiming to bridge the gap between the long wait times in the UK with quality overseas healthcare has received funding from a firm backed by a trio of international cricket stars.

The Medical Travel Company (TMTC) has secured a funding of $4.5 million which enables the firm to organise structured and medically supervised trips to India.

The investment is led by Nexus Venture Partners with participation from 4CAST – the investment collective co-founded by Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and KL Rahul.

India has emerged as a global leader in medical excellence - combining clinical expertise with modern infrastructure, and cost efficiency.

TMTC’s model begins and ends in the UK under GP supervision, ensuring medical continuity and safety.

Patients undergo thorough pre-travel assessments by UK-based private doctors, addressing all underlying conditions before surgery. The journey proceeds only once the patient is medically cleared for travel and treatment.

Once in India, TMTC’s patients are treated at vetted, accredited hospitals with UK-quality standards.

Post-surgery, patients recover at TMTC’s purpose-built Aftercare Centre that offers premium suites with round-the-clock nursing and on-site doctors, daily physiotherapy sessions, dedicated nutrition planning, and concierge support for light activities and local mobility.

Upon return, the same UK doctor who initiated the process provides aftercare follow-up, and TMTC includes 12 months of private insurance (for orthopaedic and dental procedures) to cover any complications.

TMTC’s UK-India pathways extend to fertility treatments (IVF), dental care including implants and veneers, and preventive health and wellness programmes blending medical assessments with yoga, nutrition and modern rejuvenation therapies

Each service is backed by transparent pricing, ethical oversight and coordinated care.

Ankit Mehrotra, co-founder of The Medical Travel Company, said: “By connecting trusted UK clinicians with India’s world-class hospitals, we’re offering patients both affordability and reassurance - something missing in most traditional medical tourism.”

Jofra Archer, 4CAST co-founder and England fast bowler, said: “We invested because The Medical Travel Company is building a proper bridge for patients, with transparency and professional oversight that really gives peace of mind”
