‘Menopause at Work’ webinar to be held next month
A free webinar about menopause at the workplace has been launched by CAPE Coaching & Development Ltd.
The event is due to take place on 5 March from 2 pm to 3pm. It will be led by co-founder and director of CAPE Coaching & Development Naomi Regan.
She would be joined by Susie Rasul, senior pelvic health physio & women's coach, and Lisa Punt, Maggie’s Centre head, Cambridge and specialist in cancer treatment induced menopause,
Two-thirds (67 per cent) of women (aged 40–60 in employment) with experience of menopausal symptoms say they have had a mostly negative effect on them at work.
And only a third of people feel comfortable talking to their manager about the menopause and their symptoms.
It is also often thought that menopause only affects women between the ages of 45 and 55.
However, some cancer treatments can affect hormones and trigger menopause symptoms (even early menopause).
Therefore, symptoms associated with menopause can affect women at any age (and some men) who may have treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery to remove both ovaries, radiotherapy to the pelvis or hormone therapy drugs.
During the session, attendees can know about how menopause impacts on the wellbeing of women and their families, how it impacts on productivity and performance in the workplace and what you need to know and do to support the team.
Speaking about the webinar, Naomi Regan (pictured) said: “'It's great that people like Davina McCall have increased the visibility of the menopause and the impact it has on people.
“However, there's still a real need to equip managers with strategies and more confidence to support people in their teams that might be experiencing symptoms connected with the menopause themselves or someone in their family.
“The impact on workplace wellbeing and productivity is huge”
