Merlin to reopen Birmingham attractions
Merlin Entertainments has confirmed its Birmingham attractions, the National SEA LIFE Centre and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, will reopen on Monday, after the Government confirmed the next stage of its roadmap out of lockdown.
A range of comprehensive safety precautions are in place at all Merlin attractions, including pre-booking, temperature checks, social distancing and group sizes and the wearing of masks by guests and team members.
Merlin is also backing the Government 's review of social distancing measures and as part of this is calling for the 1m+ rule to be scrapped post-21 June under Stage 4 of the proposed roadmap out of lockdown and as the vaccination roll-out ramps up.
General manager Amy Langham said: “We can 't wait to finally reopen on Monday 17 May and get back to doing what we do best - creating magical experiences for our guests.
“All our attractions are Covid-secure and we have a raft of safety precautions in place including pre-booking, temperature checks and capacity reductions. ”
Visitors to the SEA LIFE Centre will be able to see Ozzy and Ola, the UK 's first and only sea otters, as well as enjoying the colony of Gentoo penguins, an interactive rockpool, jellyfish, piranhas, a 4D Cinema and the UK 's only 360 Ocean Tunnel - home to sharks, rays and a giant green sea turtle.
LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is full of creative LEGO fun aimed at three to 12 year olds, with a 4D Cinema, two interactive LEGO rides, MINILAND, imaginative build ideas and more.
