Michelin star chef Tom Shepherd threw open the doors to his acclaimed Upstairs restaurant to help spread the word about Lichfield-headquartered charity Kids’ Village.

Shepherd is a trustee of the charity which is seeking to raise funds to build the UK’s first respite village for children with critical illnesses and their families.

The charity, which is a patron of the Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce, is embarking on a £5m fundraising drive to build the village.

The evening was described as “a resounding success”, bringing together members of the regional business community to share the inspiring story behind Kids’ Village.

Kids’ Village co-founder Samantha Fletcher-Goodwin, delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on her own journey as a cancer survivor and the work she, and the Fletcher family, have achieved since the charity’s inception.

Throughout the evening, guests also heard from chairman Doug Wright, interim CEO Paul Faulkner and Tom Shepherd.

The charity event concluded on a high note with words from Lichfield District Council leader Douglas Pullen, who expressed his enthusiasm and excitement for the future of Kids’ Village and the positive impact it will have on the people of Lichfield and the surrounding areas.
