The Footprints Family, a Midlands-based international charity operating in rural Kenya, continues to create extraordinary impact through education, community empowerment, and heartfelt partnerships.

In recent weeks, the charity has tackled life-threatening transport challenges, enhanced its solar infrastructure, hosted global volunteers and music educators, and provided vital vaccinations to children—all thanks to a dedicated network of supporters in both the UK and Kenya.

After a long struggle with unsafe travel conditions due to extreme weather, the charity recently received a brand-new vehicle thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of Debbie, Dawn, and Jaqui from Russell Roof Tiles.

This vehicle will ensure the safe transport of children, community outreach, and the delivery of vital food and medical supplies to rural areas.

Founder Kerry Watson – fondly known as ‘Mama Kerry’ to children – said: “This support goes beyond transportation - it’s a symbol of hope, safety and access to opportunity.

The charity also hosted the S’Cool Sounds Music group from Washington DC and welcomed long-time supporters Jo and Sally from the UK.

During these meetings, the children enjoyed new experiences that inspire confidence and joy, including recorder lessons, creative arts, and storytelling sessions.

The entire Footprints site now runs on sustainable solar power, ensuring energy security, improved learning conditions, and environmental responsibility, thanks to continued support from Mr. Ashit.

Due to recent transport concerns, the charity has announced plans to launch a new boarding facility in Term 3 of 2025.

This ensures that children who live far away or face unsafe journeys can access full-time education and care without daily risks.

The Footprints Family is encouraging local businesses to engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through partnerships, sponsorships, and visits to the Kenyan site.
