Midlands training provider reveals ‘exceptional’ set of outcomes from latest Ofsted report
West Midlands talent development, apprenticeships and training provider, The Development Manager (TDM) has announced an exceptional set of outcomes following its latest Ofsted inspection.
The Ofsted report published on 15 July achieved strong judgements for achievement, inclusion and leadership and governance, alongside confirmation that safeguarding arrangements are effective.
Under Ofsted’s new inspection framework, a strong judgement is awarded to providers performing above expected standards.
The report recognises TDM’s commitment to delivering transformational skills and education delivery that changes lives, develops careers and creates measurable impact for employers across the UK.
Inspectors praised the organisation’s highly effective approach to identifying and removing barriers to learning, supporting learners from all backgrounds and helping them progress into meaningful careers.
The inspection also highlighted TDM’s personalised learner support, strong safeguarding culture and leadership team’s clear focus on continuous improvement.
Derrin Kent, managing director and director of studies, said: “Strong, they say, is the new Outstanding.
“Our Strong Achievement judgement reflects the hard work of our learners, employers and staff.
“We are deeply invested in helping individuals develop technical skills, professional behaviours and long-term career opportunities, while ensuring employers receive the skilled talent they need to grow.”
The outcome is particularly significant given TDM’s mission to widen participation in education and employment.
More than 65 per cent of learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds, making inclusion a fundamental part of the organisation’s purpose rather than a supporting initiative.
Ely Kent, director of operations and academic lead, said: “What gets you out of bed every morning is having a sense of purpose and understanding why we do what we do. Inclusion and achievement are not accidental; they are the result of hard work, dedication and a truly personalised coaching approach that supports every learner as an individual.
“Little by little, learner by learner, we are helping to build the career mindset of the future and creating opportunities for both career progression and social mobility.”
