Birmingham City Council encourage individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated to visit mobile vaccination units across the city.

Everyone aged five and over can get a first and second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Those aged 12 and over are eligible for two full doses, while all five to 11-year-olds are now being offered two low-dose jabs, at least 12 weeks apart.

People aged 16 and over, and some children aged 12 to 15, can also get a booster dose and people aged 12 and over who had a severely weakened immune system when they had their first two doses, will be offered a third dose and a booster.

Susan Parry (pictured), senior health protection officer at Birmingham City Council in the Covid Health Protection Response Team, said: “Vaccinations have become the primary weapon against Covid, and continues to be an important part of the safer behaviours needed to keep people safe, especially in light of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

“We need everyone's support to increase the uptake of the vaccine. In collaboration with our NHS colleagues, we will be concentrating our efforts in collaboration in those areas where we are still seeing low uptake. ”

Individuals are not required to make an appointment or bring anything with them to get vaccinated at a mobile vaccination unit.

Over the next week vaccination units will be placed at the following locations:

  • Monday 23/ Tuesday 24 May - Handsworth Wellbeing Centre
  • Wednesday 25/Thursday 26 May - Ladywood Health & Community Centre
  • Friday 27/Saturday 28 May - Newtown Shopping Centre

While individuals are no longer legally required to self-isolate if they have symptoms of or have tested positive for Covid-19, they are advised by Birmingham City Council to try to stay at home and away from others for five days to avoid passing on the virus.

They are also advised to avoid meeting people at higher risk from Covid-19 for 10 days even if they 've had a Covid-19 vaccine.

Free packs of lateral flow tests remain available to some people to order and to be send to their homes, and individuals can check their eligibility here to avail the services.
