Molson Coors to power breweries with green energy
Molson Coors is to be the first UK brewer to operate using 100 per cent renewable electricity.
Producers of Carling, Coors and Doom Bar, Molson Coors has signed a 10-year agreement with energy firm RWE, which uses wind turbines to produce its green electricity.
The renewable energy will power Molson Coor's UK based operation offices and breweries in Burton, Tadcaster, Suffolk, Cardiff and Cornwall.
According to Molson Coors, it will be able to produce more than one billion pints a year in using renewable sources.
The move is part of the firm's sustainability goals, which includes it aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 50 per cent across all direct operations.
Fraser Thomson, operations director, Western Europe at Molson Coors Beverage Company, said: “One of our values at Molson Coors is taking accountability, and that includes being responsible for the impact our business has on the environment.
“That 's why we 've made such bold commitments to play our part in tackling climate change - because it is the right thing to do. We know that this matters to our people, our customers and consumers, and they can now be assured that everything we do, and every pint we make, is powered by 100 per cent green electricity."
