Month of festive fun to begin in the town centre this week
A month of festive fun kicks off in the heart of Solihull this week with the first ever Local Producers Market ahead of the return of the popular Festive Feast.
Solihull BID - the Business Improvement District for the town centre - has funded a range of improvements to the town centre 's Christmas offering, including enhanced Festive lighting on the High Street, a light-up wreath on Mill Lane and a golden walk-through Christmas tree in Mell Square.
The markets are another addition to the town 's Festive line-up, complimenting the fantastic retail and hospitality offering already in the town centre.
The BID has teamed up with CJ's Events Warwickshire to host the first Solihull Christmas Producers' Market this Friday 3 December.
The event will feature selected specialists, who source, grow, rear, bake, make, and create the products they sell, ensuring their goods are unique, original and designed to inspire. The market, to be set up on the High Street, will be open from 9am - 5pm.
Just over a week later, the much-loved Festive Feast - in conjunction with market experts RR Events - returns, setting up on Tuesday 14 December and remaining in the town centre until Thursday 23 December.
Shoppers will be treated to flavours from around the world with a wide range of hot foods to sample and cold items to take home for that Christmas pantry to share with your nearest and dearest.
Visitors will be treated to a special late-night shopping event on Thursday 16 December with live music from the Wedding Crashers and a performance by the Sing Solihull choir.
On Saturday 18 December, dinosaurs return to the town centre for T-Rex-Mas for the last weekend before the big day.
Then on Monday 20 December, the Family Fun Day at the Festive Feast will see a range of activities brought into the town centre, including children 's craft workshops and Narnia themed roaming entertainment.
Melanie Palmer, chief executive of Solihull BID, said: “We all know that Solihull is the best place to shop this Christmas, but we 've just got even better! This year we have two additional street markets to tickle your fancy when browsing for those special handcrafted local gifts, food, and drink.
“The Local Producers Market launches this Friday on the High Street, and the Festive Feast opens from the 14 to the 23 December.
“We 've added extra sparkle in the form of family fun days, T-Rex-Mas, and a late-night event with live music at our Christmas bar. Believe in the wonderful Solihull this Christmas! ”
