Player, coach and ambassador for Solihull Moors, Darren Carter, is departing the club.

The 37-year-old joined the Moors in June 2017 and has made 137 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.

Darren captained the side that retained its National League status against all odds in the 'great escape ' and was a central player in the 2018/19 season when Moors recorded their highest ever league finish. He was also named in the National League Team of the Season.

Before his time at Moors, Darren has played for other Midlands clubs including Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion.

Solihull Moors has said that throughout his time at the club, Darren has acted as an exemplary role model.

Chairman, Darryl Eales, said: “It 's not often one of your heroes becomes a colleague and friend. We all remember the hugely courageous 18-year-old scoring the penalty that secured promotion for Blues.

“Over his career, Darren has been a role model for so many both on and off the pitch, none more so than at Moors, where it has been a pleasure to get to know him personally.

“He has been a great servant to Moors at the latter end of his career and all of us are immensely grateful to him.

“It 's a sad characteristic of football that time is always the winner, but we wish Daz all the best in the future and he will always be welcome at the club. ”
