New ambassador announced for female unemployment charity
‘Women supporting women’ is a key ingredient as to why the Smart Works Birmingham service has such an impact.
Last year, Smart Works Birmingham supported over 800 women and 72 per cent of these women secured a job within one month of their appointment. The charity’s service uses the power of high-quality clothing and one-to-one coaching to help unemployed women fulfil their potential, get the job and transform their lives.
The service is delivered by a passionate team of 50 women dedicated to empowering unemployed women to succeed at interview and get the job. They provide one on one styling sessions for our clients and bespoke coaching of interview skills. These women volunteer their time for free and bring so much expertise and support.
Earlier this year Scarlett Allen-Horton joined the Smart Works Birmingham team as an ambassador for the charities vital work.
Scarlett was born in Small Heath; she has extensive experience as a recruitment leader and founded the award-winning Recruitment Agency ‘Harper Fox Partners’. She came into the media spotlight when she entered the 15th series of The Apprentice and made it all the way to the final. Although she didn’t win, behind the scenes Alan Sugar still became her business partner.
“When I tell you this charity, the work it does, the impact it has on women…the purpose, means everything to me. I was one of these women, I AM one of these women and to be the first Birmingham & Midlands Ambassador, in my hometown for Smart Works UK is a true honour. Impactful work is what I do and I couldn’t be prouder to be joining this incredible and impactful team.”
Scarlett has already spoken at two events for Smart Works Birmingham, a fundraising lunch for corporate teams and just recently at a ‘Women into STEM’ event. Her passion for supporting and championing women is evident when she speaks, and her authentic personality is inspiring.
Alison Armstrong, Smart Works Birmingham chairwoman, said: “On behalf of Smart Works Birmingham, we are delighted that Scarlett Allen-Horton, a committed advocate of female empowerment, will be joining the Smart Works community and will work with us to generate support and growth for the charity and help achieve our mission to help women from all backgrounds into economic independence.”
Scarlett will be supporting the Smart Works Birmingham team to curate a rail of donated clothing specifically for The Good Clothes Show, 20-22 September at Birmingham NEC. She will also be representing Smart Works at the weekend event. For more information and to book tickets please visit HERE.
