Business leaders, managers and communications professionals will have the opportunity to develop practical skills for leading people through organisational change with a new one-day course delivered by two Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce members.

‘Building for Change: A practical, hands-on approach to leading and communicating organisational change’ will take place at Shire House, Birmingham Road, Lichfield, on Wednesday 21 October.

The course has been developed by experienced change professionals Helen Walker, of Mayhew Walker Consulting, and Louise Grifferty, of Ignite Communications.

It brings together expertise in change management, leadership and strategic communication to help participants understand not only how to plan change, but how to engage people and make that change last.

The interactive day will combine established change-management theory with practical tools and hands-on activities, including the LEGO® Serious Play® method.

Participants will explore their own responses to change, learn how to build and communicate a compelling case for change, identify key stakeholders and look at how they can anticipate and respond to resistance.

They will also develop a practical plan that can be applied in their own organisation.

Louise Grifferty (pictured) said: “Even well-planned organisational change can falter if people don’t understand why it is happening, what it means for them or how they can contribute to its success.

“Building for Change brings leadership and communication together. We want participants to leave with a clearer understanding of how people experience change and a practical plan they can use in their own workplace.”

Helen Walker said: “Change management is not simply about following a process. Successful change depends on creating the right conditions for people to engage, adapt and move forward.

“This course will give participants the opportunity to explore those challenges in a practical and highly interactive way, while developing tools they can apply to real organisational change.”

The course is suitable for managers, team leaders, HR and people professionals, and communications professionals who are new to leading people through change or need to strengthen their skills in this area.

The course takes place at Shire House on 21 October from 9.30am until 4.30pm.

The standard course price is £295 + VAT per person.

An early-bird rate of £245 + VAT is available until Monday 21 September.
