New exhibition to be launched at Lichfield Cathedral
Lichfield Cathedral is set to host an exhibition of sculptures and paints by artist Simon Mansby (pictured).
Titled as 'Making a Difference ', the exhibition is a collection of more than 30 sculptures and 20 prints to inspire the visitors as they journey through the cathedral.
Each individually cast sculpture and linocut print captures the artist 's observations and feelings at that moment but are offered to help each viewer and visitor reflect on life and relationships.
Speaking about the exhibition, Artist Simon Manby hopes the sculptures will create a difference amongst the viewers.
Mansby said: “I think of my sculpture as being between a thing and a feeling. It is a great adventure trying to give form and a physical presence to what is invisible and evanescent.
“I am immensely pleased to offer these works for show in the wonderful setting of the Cathedral. I hope that they 'make a difference ' and add pleasure to your visit.
The Very Revd Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield said: “The way we relate and get on with one another reveals our emotional and ethical pulse: the kind of people we are and the people we care for. Simon 's work invites us to explore our relationships in all their joy and all their vulnerability.

Simon 's work helps us explore all the dimensions of this many-splendored thing. The sculptures and prints help us see moments in our lives and our communities where what matters stands unveiled. ”

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 September until 2 October 2022 during usual opening hours for Lichfield Cathedral (Monday-Saturday 10:00-17:00, Sunday 12:00-17:00). Sculptures and prints are also available to purchase.
