New forum launched to help business unlock growth through exporting
A new event has been launched by UK Export Finance to help businesses export.
Happening in Central Birmingham on 17 June, the event will feature networking, discussion and presentations showcasing the support available for UK companies looking to supercharge their business by trading overseas.
Attendees will also hear from successful local businesses about the opportunities and challenges involved in exporting and learn how they have found new markets, won overseas contracts and overcome the funding challenges to boost their business growth.
Speaking about the event, Mark Lynam, export finance Manager for Greater Birmingham and Leicestershire said: “Businesses have always needed to deal with uncertainties and there is no doubt that we are experiencing one of the most turbulent economic periods in living memory.
“But it has always been the case that well managed and funded businesses react and adapt to survive – and often flourish with the benefit of their experience.
“The Government has put economic growth at the top of the country’s agenda.
“The UK boasts an enviable range of businesses across all sectors producing world class goods and services.
“Our businesses are some of the most innovative in the world and have a reputation for producing high quality, innovative, well designed and engineered products and services.
“The manner in which business is conducted is gaining greater importance and the UK values of honesty, integrity and reliability are deemed as second to none.
“Our legal system is generally considered as the foundation for global trade and gives confidence to buyers across the globe, meaning the UK is viewed as a straightforward and easy place to do business.
“According to official data from the World Bank, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United Kingdom was worth US$3,380.85 billion in 2023, representing 3.21 percent of the world economy (source: World Bank).
“This shows that the UK remains a large and concentrated market, but clearly there are huge business opportunities elsewhere. To increase sales and profits, ambitious businesses must therefore look to the world.”
The event is conducted in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and independent export finance experts.
