New mayor announced for East Staffordshire

Councillor Monica Holton has been appointed as the Mayor of East Staffordshire, following the meeting of Annual Council on Friday 15 May.

Cllr Holton has worked in the voluntary sector for 26 years, always compassionate, particularly focusing on crisis prevention.

Cllr Monica Holton, Mayor of East Staffordshire, said: “I am honoured to take on the role of Mayor, and humbled by the opportunity to further serve all communities in East Staffordshire. I look forward to representing the Borough and supporting the work of the Council over the coming year.”

During her time as Mayor of East Staffordshire, Cllr Monica Holton’s chosen charities will be:

• Burton upon Trent & District YMCA
• Street Whyze
• Mother Wilkin Centre for Senior Support
• New Era – Domestic Abuse Victims Support
