New partnership offers discounted rail tickets to conference goers
Thousands of conference goers are being encouraged to go green following a partnership between Edgbaston Park Hotel and West Midlands Railway (WMR).
Birmingham hotel and conference centre Edgbaston Park Hotel has partnered with West Midlands Railway (WMR) to offer discounted travel to up to 65,000 conference delegates this year.
The partnership will see WMR offer 20 per cent off rail travel to Edgbaston Park Hotel, located a short walk away from University Station, for guests attending corporate events.
The hotel, which hosts thousands of guests and conference delegates annually, will offer the discount as part of select conference packages with the aim of encouraging public transport use to lower carbon emissions.
Sophie Gardner, senior sales and marketing manager at WMR, said: ‘We are so excited to launch this partnership with Edgbaston Park Hotel and inspire thousands of conference attendees to leave the car at home and make the switch to rail travel.
‘At West Midlands Railway, we offer a free business travel platform called Just Business for all work-related rail travel bookings, giving businesses and employees access to all the cheapest fares, with no booking fees.’
Billy Harris-Wright, director of commercial at Edgbaston Park Hotel, said: ‘We’re delighted to offer this discount to our guests. As a B-Corp hotel in one of the UK’s best-connected cities we want to make it as easy as possible for our visitors to travel sustainably.
‘We already have electric vehicle charging points and a bicycle repair station, and this offer cements our commitment to responsible travel.’
