New residential development project set to transform Birmingham city centre
Birmingham’s city centre residential market is set to be transformed – thanks to luxury wellness-inspired residential development, Edition Birmingham.
Located off Centenary Square in the cultural heart of the city, the new Brindley Drive development – being delivered by Sphere Group and sold and marketed by Select Property – will offer more than 23,000 sq ft of five-star, wellness-inspired amenity not previously available in the city.
This includes a pool, rooftop outdoor spa pool and a state-of-the-art skyline gym, featuring yoga and spin studios and outdoor terrace, which will be accessible to all residents.
On the doorstep of Birmingham’s £700million Paradise regeneration project, as well as food & drink hotspots including Brindley Place and Broad Street, the 581-home development includes one-and two-bedroom luxury apartments across two connected 15-storey (Park Residence) and 46-storey (Centenary Tower) towers.
The project is creating at least 300 jobs, including more than 60 apprenticeships and work experience placements in the local community.
Alex Neale, CEO at Sphere Group, said: “The first residence of its kind to come to Birmingham, Edition will be a true original in terms of its prime city centre location and the level of amenity on offer.
“Once complete, it will combine the features of a five-star hotel with the comfort of home for those wanting a lifestyle that places wellness and luxury at its heart.
“We’ve been extremely heartened by the level of interest in Edition to date and we’re pleased to be working with Select Property as our strategic sales partner.”
With properties within the exclusive scheme available on the market, future residents will have access to Edition’s wide range of wellness-led amenities and benefits.
In addition to cutting edge gym facilities and spa facilities, these include a 20-metre above ground swimming pool – with accompanying hydro pool, plunge pool, sauna and steam room – as well as a residents’ sky lounge and private dining experience across the 44th and 45th floors.
The development, just a short walk from the city’s Colmore Row business district, also includes a premium co-working lounge (The Study) as well as outdoor co-working space on a 14th floor garden terrace.
Other outdoor amenities include a 9,000 sq ft podium terrace with cinema screen and BBQ area connecting the two buildings.
Featuring cutting-edge architecture (CRKTL) and interior design (Weedon Architects), the first phase of Edition Birmingham is scheduled for completion in 2027.
Midgard has been appointed as the lead contractor to deliver the project. PGIM Real Estate is acting as funding partner.
Adam Price, CEO of Select Property, said: “Birmingham continues to lead UK rental growth forecasts in no small part thanks to its 20-year city centre masterplan, outstanding transport links, and its established and flourishing cultural offer.
“With the city’s population set to grow by 25 per cent by 2040, Edition represents a standout opportunity for investors – placing residents at the heart of a scheme that will also benefit from substantial future public and private investment into Birmingham’s iconic historical centre.
“Our mission remains to deliver the most exciting property investments, shaped by people and place, with Edition’s tier one location and luxury residential experience set to make it Birmingham’s most in-demand development.”
